Media Storage & Use
This page explains how Trustory handles the screen recordings, images, audio, and other files you upload ("Your Media"). Our guiding principle is simple: we use Your Media only to deliver the features you explicitly request — nothing more.
What you upload
When you use Trustory, you may upload or generate media including:
- Screen recordings (video) for walkthroughs and demos.
- Images used in product showcases or story frames.
- Generated narration audio, sound effects, and exported video/GIF files.
- Story metadata — titles, hints, interaction labels, and sharing settings you configure.
Why we store Your Media
We store and process Your Media solely to:
- Build your walkthrough — extract frames, detect clicks, and assemble interactive steps.
- Apply AI features you request — such as automatic click labelling or text-to-speech narration for specific interactions.
- Generate previews and exports — thumbnails, MP4/GIF exports, and embeddable player assets.
- Serve shared stories — deliver walkthroughs to viewers via links you publish.
- Maintain your workspace — let you edit, duplicate, or delete stories until you choose to remove them.
We do not use Your Media for advertising, sell it to third parties, or use it to train general-purpose AI models without your explicit consent.
Where Your Media is stored
Your Media is stored on secure cloud infrastructure operated by our hosting providers. Files are associated with your company workspace and are not publicly accessible unless you publish a story or share a link. Access within our team is restricted to personnel who need it to operate and support the Service.
How long we keep it
Your Media is retained for as long as the associated story exists in your workspace, or until you delete it. When you delete a story, we remove the associated media files from active storage within a reasonable period. Backups may persist for a limited time for disaster recovery before being purged.
If you close your account, we will delete Your Media in accordance with our Privacy Policy, except where we are legally required to retain certain records.
Third-party processing
To fulfil your requests, we may send portions of Your Media to subprocessors — for example, AI vision services for click detection or TTS providers for narration synthesis. These providers process data only on our instructions and only for the specific job you initiated. They are not permitted to use Your Media for their own product development.
Shared & exported content
When you publish a story or download an export, you control who can access it. Published walkthroughs are served to viewers via secure links. You can unpublish or delete a story at any time to revoke access. Exported files (MP4, GIF) are yours to distribute as you see fit.
Your responsibilities
Because walkthroughs may show sensitive information visible in your recordings, please:
- Review content before sharing publicly.
- Ensure you have rights to record and share what appears on screen (including third-party software or personal data).
- Use sharing settings appropriate to your audience.
- Delete stories you no longer need.
Data requests
You can delete individual stories from your dashboard at any time. To request export or deletion of all media associated with your account, email hello@trustory.so from your registered address. We will verify your identity before processing the request.
